Robbie has a new home now and the number of piggies is down to 4 :) I still have to thin the herd, sadly. Marshmallow and jasmine have grrrrooooowwn!! They are both adorable. Sorry about the lack of pictures.

So, info time.
Does your water bottle ever get green algae in it? Usually I just re-fill mine, but it is VERY important to give it a swish with some soap every other time. Another guinea pig lover talked to me about this, and it seems that the scummy build up depends on your guinea pig, too. Apparently some backwash more than others! :P
You could use a little bleach if the situation gets bad, but make sure to rinse EVERYTHING THOROUGHLY! I wouldn't use the bleach personally, because it seems a little dangerous.
Have a great day, and have some happy piggies!! <3

Overdue Update!

So a lot has changed since my last post, I know have 5 piggies! The 2 newest additions are Marshmallow and Jasmine, two adorable females. Yes, it turns out that Rosencrantz & and Guildenstern were females! I had never checked, just trusted the previous owners. So both of them had a littler of babies, thankfully only two each. I sold the boys and kept the females. I need to find a new home for Robbie soon, who is in a separate cage, of course. I'll get some pictures up soon, and hopefully more general information.

A new Piggie!!

Welcome to the family, Robin!! yes, another guinea pig joins the clan. He's an American with short, tri-colored hair. He's super sweet and so far all the guinea pigs are getting along. I haven't combined cages yet, (I'm letting them adjust) but I will soon! I will clean the cages before I connect them so that they have less of their own smells in it and just make the whole thing their home. I'm super happy to have Rob!

Just a little note....

Don't wear anything fuzzy while changing your piggy beadspread! Those piggy hairs don't seem to come off very well with a sticky roller  =]

Ahhh spring...

The weather has finally improved enough to take my sweet piggies outside. I took them out and they LOVED it. My yard is perfect because its flat and grassy without trees, so there's no sticks or ants. Remember to only let your guinea pigs go out on chemically untreated grass- the fertilizers and stuff can really harm them if they eat the grass (wich believe me, they WILL do =] Also I try to keep the outdoor playtime short, because I don't want them to get fleas or anything. There  are ways to treat fleas, (http://www.ehow.com/about_5078648_guinea-pig-flea-treatments.html) but it would just be simpler if they didn't get 'em =) When your piggies are outside is a perfect time to trim nails & hair!

Helpful!

An awesome site for Guinea Pig owners. There are forums, chat rooms, pictures and information. Lots of fun! This website helped when I first got my piggies.

Rosencranz and Guildenstern

After my last guinea pig died, I took a short break without guinea pigs. And you know what, I wanted to have them again. Once they work your way into your heart it's just not as fun without them! So I got two new guinea pigs, and named them after some of Shakespeare's characters- Rosencranz and Guildenstern, from Hamlet.
They are both Abyssinians and are both black and white. being brothers, they like to be together. Rosencranz is super sweet, but takes time to warm up. Guildenstern can be held right away, but is a little less interesting.
So there's the scoop! Happy semi-new year!
